Blessing of Animals
The congregation at St. Mark’s Episcopal church, 809 Crystal Ave., is pleased to invite pets and their people to a liturgy of the Blessing of Animals. The event will take place outside the church on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m., with the Revs. Peg Padilla and Carolyn Orchard officiating.

The Iron County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a “Harvest and Haunt” fall festival on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 2-9 p.m.
It’s a free fun event for families and all ages all day, said Joe Voellinger, chamber executive director, and includes live music, hayrides, chili, cider and donuts, kids’ games and crafts and popcorn and cotton candy.
There will also be a beer tent, food vendors “and more,” said Voellinger.
The festival begins at 2 with live music under way at 2:30.

U.P. Fall Color Tour Season
The most picturesque time of year in Iron County is the Fall Season. As the daylight hours get shorter, the leaves of the forest begin to transition from the bright green of summer to autumn’s palette of reds, yellows and oranges. Historically, the Color Tour season starts mid-September and runs for almost three weeks. Be sure to give us a call at the chamber office for the latest on peak color recommendations.

As summer winds down, the music heats up in Alpha for the End-of-Summer Blues Fest set for Aug. 29. The music of motorcycles will be heard before the blues music starts with the annual Vets Freedom Ride.
The day begins with the Blessing of the Bikes & Bikers at 11 a.m. followed by the Veterans Freedom Ride and Memorial Poker Run. Motorcycles and cars travel from Alpha, through Iron County and return back to Alpha with stops at area memorials. Riders

The annual Fungus Fest weekend takes place this weekend, Aug. 7 to 9, in and around the Crystal Falls area, with a wide variety of special events all over the city and at Runkle Lake Park.

The eighth annual Cori Sieger Memorial Volleyball Fundraiser will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Chicaugon Lake Inn on County Road 424.
Pre-registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the double elimination tournament starting at 9. The entry fee is $50 for a four- to six-person team.
First-, second- and third-place teams will receive T-shirts.
A brat and hamburger cook-out will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Summer time in Crystal Falls will be celebrated July 25 and 26 during Crystal Falls Summer Fest. The event includes shopping, a grilling competition, live music, a pie social and a special presentation at the Crystal Theatre.
All events take place in downtown Crystal Falls.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday with the antique and crafters’ flea market from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
