Heading into Crystal Falls on US 2, just before county road 424 is a little sign that says “Horse Race Rapids”. We’ve driven past this sign many of times before and finally said “what the heck. lets go check it out”, so we hung a right on county airport road and were on our way. Spring is slow to arrive and quick to leave in the U.P., so you’ll treasure every moment! When you see the trees tapped on Les Cheneaux and Sugar Islands, you know there will soon be fresh maple syrup for this region’s Paul Bunyan-size flapjacks. With more than 150 named falls (and many unnamed), you are never far

Winter is finally underway here in Iron County, ice fishers are fishing, snowmobilers are snowmobiling, and the skiers are skiing! With over 200 different lakes to choose from and over 300 miles of snowmobile trails, Iron County truly is one of the best places to visit here in Michigan. Wow, has this year gone by fast! I can’t believe that it is already December. Even though it’s already December, it doesn’t feel like it. It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving has passed and the heart of winter is almost here.

Here is the list:
Yoopers Are Ridiculously Proud Of Being Yoopers.
Yoopers Could Survive The Next Ice Age No Problem.
Yoopers Are A Bunch Of Cheese Heads.
Yoopers Are Hard Core Hunters.

So, where’s winter? Today is November 17th and it is 50 degrees right now… Some people like the warmer temperatures, but for those who love the winter sports, this is really messing up their plans. Fortunately, for all of those winter lovers, the temperatures look like they are going to drop later this week, starting on Thursday. Shortly after that, we should be able to start seeing snow in the forecasts.
The UP is beautiful throughout the year, but I do
