This winter sure has been an interesting one so far! The grip that ole’ man winter has on Iron County sure seems like a strong one. The recent cold snap as sent temps plunging to the single digits for high is in most of the area. But the cold isn’t stopping visitors from coming to Iron County and enjoy all the great winter fun activities Iron County has to offer.

Michigan snowmobile trails are OPEN for the 2013/14 snowmobile season. Iron County boasts more than 260 miles of extensively groomed and well-marked snowmobile trails, drawing riders from throughout the region and beyond to enjoy scenic journeys that are a trademark of trails here. The wide open trails traverse abandoned railroad beds, weave through varied wooded terrain and cross lakes for excellent sledding. Snowfall totals are between 90 and 120 inches each season. Getting that itch to enjoy a day on the slopes with family and friends? Well Iron County’s favorite family ski resort Ski Brule has rev’d up snowmaking operations! As I began to drive down the road towards the mountain this morning, the temps began to drop to the mid to upper 20’s, making it perfect for snowmaking. Sure enough after cresting the hill the trees along the mountain were covered in a beautiful white snow!

The 2013/2014 ski season has started here in Iron County! Ski Brule recently began its snowmaking operations on October 23, 2013!
