Summer Break Is Coming Up Fast!

Written by ironcountylodging on May 23, 2016

The kids are getting excited for summer vacation from school and Iron County has so many programs to offer the area youth!  Summer camps, biking, parks, fishing, swimming and lots of really amazing hiking adventures.

Two summer camps stand out when talking about Iron County.  You have Camp Batawagama that starts out the year with a week long band camp and moves in to week long youth camps for your kids to learn new skills, enjoy nature and disconnect from the electronics that take us away at times.  The second is Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp which offers day camps and overnight camps for all ages.  Kids will have a blast playing with all the amazing water toys and play areas on the grounds.  Learning skills that you can use for a life time and spending time with family and new friends.  For many of us, Summer camps hold the greatest memories for us as kids.  We are so lucky to be home to both of these camps that bring so many people together.

Hiking and biking adventures can be a lot of fun for not only the kids but also the parents. Watching little eyes explore new areas and see new things can be very rewarding along with passing on knowledge that you have learned.  We have many trails, Bewabic State Park, Glidden Lake Foot Paths, Apple Blossom Trails, Pentoga Park and Wolf Track Nature Trail just to name a few.  Don’t forget the beautiful waterfalls and lakes that are also around.

With so many amazing places to explore there should be no boring summer day!  Pack a lunch, get on your hiking shoes or grab your bike and explore the beauty that we get the pleasure of living in!
