2013 Michigan Firearm Whitetail Deer Season

 Deer_hunting

With opening day just a day away, hunters will begin to leave for the north woods. Thousands of hunters will take to the woods this weekend to hopefully take down that trophy buck. With the season open thru November 30th, hunters will have a two week period of time to seek that elusive buck and fill up their freezers. Statewide, hunting success and hunter satisfaction increased, the 2013 Michigan Deer Hunting Prospects report said, with the majority of the increase occurring in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Peninsula.

The forecast for opening day and the first week of the season is again looking mild. Meteorologists are calling for a high of 40 and partly cloudy skies on opening day in Iron Mountain. Saturday and Sunday look to be even warmer, with highs of 48 and 54, respectively, and a slight chance of rain.

Hunters are reminded to be sure to wear orange clothing, staying safe is the key to every successful deer hunt. Also don’t forget to check out the many hunting related events throughout Iron County during the opening weekend, from pancake breakfast, dinners and gatherings there’s something out there for everyone to come and enjoy the rich heritage of Upper Michigan deer season with friends and family.
