The kids are getting excited for summer vacation from school and Iron County has so many programs to offer the area youth! Summer camps, parks, fishing, swimming and lots of really amazing biking/hiking adventures.
When it comes to summer in Iron County, two standout camps offer unforgettable experiences for kids and families alike. Camp Batawagama kicks things off with its popular week-long band camp (note: band camp for the summer of 2025 has been canceled. 2026 band camp TBD) before diving into youth sessions filled with nature, adventure, and hands-on skill building — all while giving kids a break from screens and a breath of fresh air.

Just down the road, Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp serves up both day and overnight camps for all ages. From giant water toys to sprawling play areas, it’s a paradise for kids — and a great place to make friends, learn life skills, and enjoy quality family time.
For many of us, summer camp brings back the best memories of childhood. And we’re lucky to have two incredible places right here in Iron County that continue to bring people together year after year.
Hiking and biking adventures can be a lot of fun for not only the kids but also the parents. Watching little eyes explore new areas and see new things can be very rewarding along with passing on knowledge that you have learned. We have many trails, Bewabic State Park, Glidden Lake Foot Paths, Apple Blossom Trails, Pentoga Park and Wolf Track Nature Trail just to name a few. Don't forget the beautiful waterfalls and lakes that are also around.
With so many amazing places to explore there should be no boring summer day! Pack a lunch, get on your hiking shoes or grab your bike and explore the beauty that we get the pleasure of living in!
