The Holiday Season has arrived and families from all over are flocking to Iron County for the beautiful scenery, the genuine UP hospitality, and the multiple different adventures that are at your fingertips! Iron County boasts more than 260 miles of extensively groomed and well-marked snowmobile trails, drawing riders from throughout the region and beyond to enjoy scenic journeys that are a trademark of trails here. The wide-open trails traverse abandoned railroad beds, weave through varied wooded terrain and cross lakes for excellent sledding.  If you are looking for a little quieter sport this Holiday Vacation Ice Fishing is an activity that is popular in the area! Perch is the top draw for winter fishermen in the county. But you may have to keep mobile to stay on top of schooling perch. Walleye can be found in numerous lakes, including Stanley, Sunset and Emily. Sunset is an “action” lake for smaller and medium size pike, although it gave up a monster 48-incher a few summers ago. Appropriately named, Ice Lake is another good lake for pike and walleyes. Golden and Ottawa lakes are good prospects for lake trout.  Ski Brule is another huge draw to Iron County with the family friendly style resort with something for everyone, even the non-skiers and snowboarders. 17 trails and 11 lifts with multiple trails for every ability and over 30km of Cross Country, Snowshoeing and Fat Biking trails and rentals available for Skiing, Snowboarding, Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing and Fat Biking!  Ski Brule also has Tubing available on Thursday and Saturday nights!  Snowshoeing and Cross Country skiing is also available at Georges Young’s Recreational Center!  The outdoor adventures on Iron County are endless and the views you see are unlike anywhere else so get out there and explore Iron County!
