Fall as come to Iron County

Hello vacationers!
Hope you all found some time to get out and enjoy the fall colors over the past few weeks. Sadly our peak seems to have come and gone here in Iron County as we are now moving into Mid-October. But with the falling of leaves from the trees, that only means one thing, we will now be seeing the woods fill with hunters out to try there luck in the woods! Sportsmen from all across the midwest are drawn here to Iron County for its abundance of opportunities to harvest that trophy white-tailed deer or grouse, woodcock and waterfowl. Iron county boasts a strong tradition of great hunting stories, whether it be from those nights sitting around the fireplace, to listening to family out at camp.

During this time of year hunters choose Iron County for its ruffed grouse and woodcock population. As one of the top destinations in Michigan hunters are not usually disappointed after a day of hunting. The DNRE attributes the high population in this area to the large amount as aspen found in Iron County, which in turn provides a great habitat for the grouse and woodcock. With the season typically going from mid-September through mid-November, it offers plenty of time for hunters to get out into the woods.
