Bewabic State Park Youth Fishing Derby on June 11. Help us celebrate Free Fishing Weekend by joining DNR staff at Bewabic State Park for our annual Bewabic State Park Youth Fishing Derby! Fishing, food and fun for the whole family!

No Pole? Never fished before? No problem! The Bewabic State Park Youth Fishing Derby has poles to use and instructors on hand, including staff from the DNR Fisheries Division and Conservation Officers. You can fish from shore or in a boat. Each participant will get a prize! Additional prizes will be awarded for fish caught. There will be free food, games, as well as face painting and crafts.|

Participants should register upon arrival to the Bewabic State Park Youth Fishing Derby . This event may be cancelled due to inclement weather. The derby is proudly sponsored by Wildlife Unlimited of Iron County, along with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fisheries, Law Enforcement, and Parks and Recreation Divisions!

This event is free, but a Michigan State Parks Recreation Passport is required for entry into .

First time anglers can take advantage of Free Fishing Weekend, June 11-12, 2016. All fishing license fees will be waived for these two days and residents and out-of-state visitors alike can enjoy fishing for all species of fish. The DNR also offers how-to information (including videos) and weekly fishing reports online.

Take a day, or better yet – a weekend, to head outdoors and experience the finest fishing that’s Pure Michigan.
