Free Fishing Weekend Michigan – February 14–15, 2026

Experience Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend on February 14–15, 2026, with two full days of license-free fishing across the state. Residents and out-of-state visitors can fish all inland lakes, rivers, and Great Lakes waters at no cost. All fishing regulations still apply, but no fishing license or Recreation Passport is required.
Winter Free Fishing Weekend is the perfect chance for families, beginners, and seasoned anglers to enjoy Michigan’s premier outdoor activity together. Visit a nearby state park for special programs or take advantage of the weekend to try ice fishing—just be sure to review Michigan’s ice-safety guidelines before heading out.
This weekend also aligns with Michigan’s “Three Free Weekend,” allowing riders to explore ORV trails without an ORV license or trail permit. All other ORV laws remain in effect.
