Enjoy Michigan’s Summer Free Fishing Weekend on June 13–14, 2026, when everyone—residents and out-of-state visitors—can fish anywhere in Michigan without purchasing a fishing license. All inland lakes, rivers, and Great Lakes waters are open for free fishing. Standard fishing regulations still apply, but no license is required.

As part of Michigan’s “Three Free Weekend,” visitors can also access state parks and boating sites without a Recreation Passport and ride ORV trails without an ORV license or trail permit. All other ORV rules remain in effect.

Summer Free Fishing Weekend is the perfect opportunity for families, beginners, and seasoned anglers to enjoy Michigan’s warm-weather fishing traditions. Many state parks offer special programs and hands-on fishing activities during the weekend—ideal for kids and first-time anglers.
