Iron County is known throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for its trout fishing opportunities. The county is home to five designated Blue Ribbon Trout Streams recognized for high-quality cold water fisheries and healthy trout habitat.

These waters attract anglers searching for:

    • Brook trout
    • Brown trout
    • Scenic river fishing
    • Quiet forest surroundings

While trout fishing is especially popular during spring and early summer, many of Iron County’s colder trout streams continue producing fishing opportunities throughout the summer season, particularly during cooler mornings and evenings.

Even visitors who are not serious anglers often enjoy spending time near these scenic rivers during summer weekends.
