Lee LeBlanc Art Gallery

Tricia LeBlanc, daughter of the late wildlife artist Lee Leblanc will preside at the newly redecorated Lee LeBlanc Memorial Art Gallery located at the Iron County Historical Museum in Caspian on Saturday, June 6.
The Golden K group will serve a pancake breakfast from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Museum Cultural Center, with grand opening ceremonies to follow shortly thereafter. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 5-12. There is no museum admission charge for the day. Local dignitaries are expected to be present, according to the gallery manager, Pat Karvala.
More than 200 prints and original paintings are housed in the Museum’s LeBlanc Gallery and we are now enhanced for better public viewing through special displays and improved lighting.
Some items are for sale and a small framed white tail deer print will be offered as a door prize. Lee LeBlanc graduated from Iron River High School in 1931 and went on to develop an artistic career in Hollywood as a motion picture animator and head of MGM’s Special Effects Division before retiring in 1962. Upon returning to the Iron River area in 1963 he began wildlife painting and dedicated his life to nature and philanthropy. He amassed numerous awards such as the 1980 National Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year and 1973-74 Federal Duck Stamp Award. He was highly regarded as a friendly, positive person within the community. Tricia treasures many happy childhood memories. Lil Busakowski (of Central Arts and Gifts) always mentions remembering the twinkle in my dad’s eyes” Tricia recalled.
The Museum grounds and all buildings will be open to the public on June 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with no admission charge, according to Museum Director Bernadette Coates Passamani. “The 2015 summer tourist season has now begun” she says “and visitors are encouraged to come and see our many new and improved exhibits”.
