When the temperatures and conditions are just right this time of year, area ski resorts begin the process of making their own snow in order to ensure that skiers and snowboarders get to enjoy the longest season possible.
Snowmaking is a simple but weather dependent process that involves forcing water through specialized machines called snow cannons. When the sun is down and temperatures reach their lows for the day, these guns are fired up and begin to blow the water that transforms into snow and is spread across the slopes for all to enjoy.
Local resort Ski Brule reached those coveted conditions this past weekend and covered a portion of their runs to get a jump start on the ski season.
Check out Ski Brule’s website & Facebook for the latest snow reports and conditions as well as keeping up to date on events and specials going on at the resort and on the slopes.
