Fundraiser Dinner for Joe Holm

We are asking our community to get together and come out to support the benefit for Joe Holm and his family. It will be held on Saturday, October 4th at Caspian, Gaastra Fire Hall.

For those of you that don’t know, Joe Holm fell from a roof and broke his left tibia and tore his acl and mcl. He also broke two metatarsals in his right foot. He had emergency orthopedic surgery on Sunday night on the left leg, which was fixed with two internal plates and external fixation in all three of the leg bones. He had surgery on his foot on Thursday and surgery within 2 weeks to have the external rods removed. There will also be a orthoscopic surgery in the future to fix the torn ligaments in his knee. He cannot walk or bear weight on his legs, because of this he will not be able to work for 3-5 months.

To help support his family through this difficult time, there will be a spaghetti meal served with sides of sausage, garlic bread and salad. All plates are based on a donation basis. This delicious meal will be served from 4pm-7pm. For those who want some dessert, there will be a bake sale going on during this time as well. Many businesses have been so kind to donate some amazing items for the auction that will take place after dinner. Also many raffles being given away throughout the night.

If you are unable to attend this event but would still like to help, there are several options.

* If you can’t stay for the dinner and would like to place a spaghetti dinner to go, pick up will be from 3:30pm- 4:30pm at the Caspian, Gaastra Firehall. Please call to place your orders ahead of time with Georgie at 367-0955.

* An account will be set up in Joe’s name at the CoVantage Credit Union in Iron River and Crystal Falls for anyone wanting to drop off donations.

For anyone that knows Joe, he is a wonderful person. He is a great husband, father, son, brother, friend and one of the greatest fireman that we all know and love!!! He is always so willing to help everyone else whenever they need him. It’s time we help pay him back during his time of need. So come down to show your support, have some delicious dinner, bid on some excellent prizes, win some raffles and enjoy the wonderful company. We can’t wait to see you at the fundraiser!!!!
